Our Story

Established in 1993 — for the handloom industry of India.

IIHT, Jodhpur — under the banner of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and under the aegis of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, New Delhi — came into inception on 16th September 1993 to cater for the needs of the Handloom Industry of India, particularly of the Northern and Western sector.

Initially the institute started in a rented building situated in Marudhar Industrial Area, Basni Phase-II, Jodhpur, and now has its own building constructed over the 30 acres of land allotted by the State Government at Nayapura, Chokha Road, Chokha, Jodhpur — nearly 10 kms from Jodhpur Railway Station.

The inauguration of the new campus was held on 6th September 2001 and the institute began to function from the new premises with effect from 01.01.2002.
